On Top Of A Hill: La Basilique du Sacré Cœur

Situated on the top of a hill and surround by the most picturesque village you will see in Paris, you will find the Sacred Heart of Christ church, La Basilique du Sacré Cœur. It was built between 1875 and 1914 and served as one of the major churches in Paris for hundreds of years. To this day you can still find Mass being held inside walls.

I woke up early to walk through the streets and up the steps of Sacré-Cœur and there are a lot of steps. There is a tram car located on the left-hand side of the church. (If you are facing it.) The church is free to enter but the tram car does cost the price of one Navigo trip to the top.

Tours are available for a price and they allow access to other areas beyond the main church. But after entering the main sanctuary and seeing all of the beautiful stained glass windows, I opted to walk around the small surrounding village of Montmartre.
