10 Reasons You Should Travel Solo

Friday, January 20

Traveling solo does not have to be some a or foreign idea. I have done it as a single, young, black woman, which by some people is unheard of. But if a little town girl like myself can take on the big wide world, I know you can to. Here are the 10 reasons I am going to give to have you traveling solo in no time.

1. You learn so much about yourself. You learn to trust your gut. You find out what is important to you. You learn what you like and don’t like. You are forced to be alone and reflect on so many things that you can’t do with so many daily distractions around.

2. You will be more willing to try new things. Solo travel will at one point or another push you out of your comfort zone. So go for it! (As long as it’s safe and legal. plus it will be really hard to get bail money since you are alone).

3. You have no choice but to talk to strangers and meet new people. – I mean let’s face it you will want to talk to someone and if you are by yourself chances are it will be a stranger. Find out what it is like to be a local or where another traveler is going on their trek.

4. No Drama It is so easy to just book a ticket and go when you don’t have to worry about anyone's plans or preferences.

5. You’ll learn to appreciate the ones you left back home. Simply put distance makes the heart grow fonder.

6. It’s more affordable. Chances are you won’t be as picky if you are alone allowing you to try street food and window shop without the peer pressure of others.

7. Life is short. – That’s right you won’t live forever, hate to break it to you. But that is all the more reason to check as many places off your bucket list as possible. Holding off until a “better time” may never come, don’t let life pass you by.

8. You will be forced to live in the moment. Without the pressure of group selfies or planned outings you are more likely to turn down that quaint side street or enjoy a sunset a little longer.

9. You Empower You! Imagine going to the finest restaurant with the best view and sitting down to your favorite meal and a glass of the best wine while wearing your best dress…alone! You would bask in the moment and enjoy your dishes until the last bite. Can you imagine how you will feel if you traveling alone? It makes you feel like a rockstar! You feel like you can conquer the world.

10. You are more likely to do it again.  After you return home you will view everything just a little bit different.  I guarantee if you live in the moment to the fullest of vacation potential you will do it again.
